- Link's mutism is selective, born from his anxiety, the weight of being the Hero of Time, and his traumas. While he can speak fine if he's calm or around friends, most anything else will trigger some part of it. New people or uncomfortable situations lead him to speak in shorter, sometimes incomplete sentences, tense situations make it difficult for him to get words out, and in serious or dangerous times, he loses the ability to speak at all. He tends to carry around a journal and pen in any worlds that allow it to account for this (or outright a text-to-speech helper in high-tech worlds).
- Link's handwriting is very poor; while it's perfectly readable, it's clumsy and awkward, looking very childish and unrefined.
- The Kokiri, being ageless forest children that grew up with fairies, had a very fluid view on gender, in that you mostly were what you said you were. Boy, girl, neither, changing, it was pretty much what you decided that made you what you were. The fairies were the same way.
